Industries Qatar is one of the region’s industrial giants with holdings in petrochemicals, fertilizers and steel producers. IQ was incorporated on April 19, 2003. Through its subsidiaries and joint ventures (the Group Companies), IQ operates in three distinct segments: Petrochemicals, Fertilizers and Steel. All of the Group’s international joint venture partners bring state-of-the-art technical expertise in their respective fields of operation. The operations of the Group’s subsidiary and joint ventures remain independently managed by their respective Boards of Directors and senior management teams. The business operations of IQ comprise the direct holding of shares in the following subsidiaries and joint venture companies: (i) Qatar Steel Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, engaged in the manufacture and sale of steel billets and reinforcing bars; (ii) Qatar Petrochemical Company Limited (QAPCO), a joint venture 80% owned by IQ, engaged in the production of ethylene, low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) through its joint venture Qatofin Company Limited and sulphur; (iii) Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO), a 100% owned subsidiary, engaged in the manufacture of ammonia and urea; and (iv) Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QAFAC), a joint venture 50% owned by IQ, engaged in the production of methanol and methyl-tertiary-butyl-ether (MTBE). Industries of Qatar was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Doha, Qatar.
